How to Tap Into Your (Fiduciary’s) Network

fiduciary professional network

In a lot of ways, I see myself as an air traffic controller. Your life has one plane coming in, one plane leaving, a lot of planes on the tarmac waiting to take off, weather delays, and a 6-month-old baby who’s wailing so loud that your ears feel like they’re in the front row of an AC/DC concert.

In other words, life is a lot – and one of the most important parts of our job as a fiduciary is to partner with you in your comings and goings smartly and safely so you can kick back, relax, and enjoy this flight we call life.

If you let it, your whole life can revolve around stress — the stress of a job, the stress of family situations, the stress of money issues, and the stress of the daily grind. Stress makes people confused and nervous about utilizing their resources, which can lead to poor financial decisions.

While I’d be naive if I said I could remove all of your stresses, I can confidently say that a big part of my work as a fiduciary is to reduce your stress so you can make the best decisions for you and your family.

How do I do that? I leverage my experience and connections to give you back time to do more of what you want and a lot less of what you don’t want.

For that reason, I have built a professional network that all of my clients have access to from day one. This connection we make for our clients may very well be one of the most important things we do for them while we help them create and protect their wealth. We give them access to other professionals we have vetted while saving them the hours upon hours it would take to find them on their own – and the stress that comes along with evaluating them.

That network and efficiency can be priceless for people with major questions or confusion—and with little time to figure it out themselves. I feel like one of our main roles is as a connector — making sure you get what you need from the people you need, both in and outside the PCM Team. I tend to think of our network in three main categories:

1. The Basics

Everyone dealing with estates, finances, real estate, and complex financial situations needs certain people: accountants, attorneys, actuaries, and trust experts, just to name a few. Not only do the firms in our network handle these things, we will work with them to make sure your whole team is unified in our approach. That’s one of our primary values – connecting all the disparate parts so that they’re moving together to the desired outcome. Consider your fiduciary the hub on a wheel through which all different spokes travel.

2. The Specializations

When one of our clients wanted to appraise and sell their artwork, we didn’t go to Google and type in “auction houses.” Rather, we called on three separate auction houses in our network with which we have a longstanding relationship. We explained the opportunity and got the deal done for our clients.

Our network consists of people who can help value, acquire, and/or sell whatever assets you have, from cars and antiques to businesses and more. In fact, several of the firms in our network are some of the country’s most renowned experts in fine arts and car collecting. Our clients can come to us because we can deliver the expert who will give them the scoop with very little fuss or friction. It’s hard to put a price on that kind of access to a network of life specialists.

3. The “Are You Kidding Me?” Category

No problem is too big, small, or crazy for our network. Have a nagging problem at home? We have architects, electricians, and arborists on call in our Tri-State area, and specialists regionally for bigger projects. Seriously, I remember one client was telling me how his toilet kept backing up at his beach house, and it was driving him crazy. We helped him find a solution when no one else could.

Need spiritual support or guidance? We have a traveling pastor in our network. I met him at a client’s funeral, where he did a marvelous job of telling the life story of my dear friend’s life. He is now a mentor in our network.

No matter what it is, we welcome you to tell us your problem through the lens of money and finance, and our team will reach out to find a qualified resource who can address it. We don’t want you to waste your time on Google, or worse, let a problem fester because it’s too daunting to tackle.

So, stop spending time and headaches on things out of your area of expertise. If you’re stuck in the minutiae of life, we can help you get unstuck by getting you the support you need.
